# SMS Communications

> Understanding how SMS communications work, including pricing, character limits, and best practices.

SMS communications incur a minimum additional cost of 12c per SMS. Different symbols and languages can result in increased text length. SMS messages are charged at a flat rate of 12c per segment, with one segment equivalent to 160 characters.
